Length of Life

The news seems to be overloaded with issues that are emotional and crisis -driven. With the national spotlight on health care reform, I have been struck by that dialogue as it relates to ‘end of life’ issues and medical resources.

Grammatically speaking, the word issue can be a noun or a verb but in both cases the definition describes a process of sending out, putting out or the circulation of an idea, product or service. From this vantage point an issue as significant as ‘end of life’ is the issue of ‘length of life’.

Family Staffing Solutions, Inc. is committed to the notion that ‘length of life’ issues offer a whole new world of opportunity for entrepreneurs, designers, inventors, writers and service providers.

While our company provides excellent personal care assistance, we look forward to a time when older family members have many of the same choices available to other age groups. There are upwards of 140,000 people over 100 years of age in our country.  They are physically and intellectually fit and wonderfully engaged in living.  One of them may be your neighbor.

The next time you are in your favorite book store, notice that there are entire sections complete with play areas for children but only a shelf or two about aging, elder care and options for adult children. Childhood lasts only a few years. Being really older can last thirty to forty years or more!

We must begin to look at aging and ‘length of life’ issues as an opportunity to live abundantly, to be consumers of items in every area that work for us and promote our personal choices and independence. I don’t know about you but I plan to live to celebrate my 100th birthday at the office!
